Undergraduate Opportunities
If you are interested in joining the group and are an undergraduate at UC Berkeley please watch out for advertised positions on the URAP portal: https://research.berkeley.edu/urap/
If you are at UC Berkeley you are also welcome to book an appointment and come see me in office hours:
There are also opportunities to look for summer funding to work within the group as well, so look out for those calls during the early Spring semesters!
Graduate Opportunities
If you are interested in pursuing a PhD within the team then most years (funding dependent) we will be looking for students. You can apply either through the Nuclear Engineering Department (https://grad.berkeley.edu/program/nuclear-engineering/) or through the Applied Science and Technology program (https://grad.berkeley.edu/program/applied-science-tech/ ), both of which Ellie is a faculty member of.
If you are interested in a PhD with us then please look at some of the pages here and ensure the research we are doing (in experimental plasma physics) aligns with your skills and interests as well. Have a look at the recent publications and see if these look like exciting research projects to you- if not then we may not be the right fit! I do understand not everyone is a fan of electromagnetism but it turns out plasma physics does need you to learn to love it... If you are still keen after that then reach out and email Ellie to find out what sort of upcoming projects might be offered to new PhD students. Please enclose your CV and transcript as these are most useful to see your background as well!
Other Opportunities
In the future I hope also to be taking on post-doctoral researchers however at this time I do not have any open vacancies. Please feel free to email me though if you have ideas for fellowships or interest in pursuing a post-doc with the group and we can chat more.
